Microsoft 365

Microsoft Office 365 provides a subscription based license to their Office suite. Depending on which subscription the user purchases, it can include Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, OneNote, Publisher, and Access. All of the programs except Publisher and Access work on a Windows operating system or on a Mac. Other services they offer are file storage, video conferencing, intranets, and calendar, email, and address book synchronization.

When looking at Microsoft 365, read the fine print. https://privacy.microsoft.com/en-us/privacystatement The majority of people do not read the fine print when they agree to licensing terms and agreements. When a user subscribes to the Office 365 services which allow storage of their files on Microsoft’s servers such as email, skype, one drive, intranets, and workspaces, they agree to allow Microsoft to have ownership and access to said files.

Another thing to consider when looking at 365 is pricing. The cheapest subscription for the Office suite is $8.25 per user per month which is $99 per year, and the buyer does not own anything. The same products are available for one time purchase under $200, and the buyer owns the product. So, if the buyer is going to be using Microsoft Office for over two years, it is cost effective to buy the license instead of rent it.
